Engagement Lead & Solutions Architect

Role overview

This is a placement through Syncreon Consulting for a client engagement in the banking and financial-services space. The programme has two workstreams that must be planned and shipped as a single effort: the first builds an API governance and gateway platform on Azure API Management, and the second delivers an AI risk assessment and governance strategy. Dependencies run in both directions, for example gateway controls from the first workstream feeding the guardrail and monitoring design in the second, and the Engagement Lead is responsible for resolving them.

The person is the single delivery contact for the client, covering stakeholder management, executive updates and the overall credibility of the engagement. They also carry the commercial side, tracking fixed-fee milestone billing per workstream and gating invoices on client acceptance, and they sit in the final architecture decisions on the multi-model gateway to make sure it meets the same examiner-ready evidence standard as the governance work. The listing is tagged Entry Level in the ATS, but the duties describe leading a six-person team and a regulated-bank programme. It is an on-site, full-time position in Buffalo, New York.

What you will do

• Own project management and delivery execution for the whole engagement.
• Hold the solutions architecture across both workstreams so the Azure APIM governance and gateway platform and the AI governance strategy land together as a single coherent programme.
• Lead and coordinate the six-person team, resolving dependencies between workstreams such as gateway controls informing guardrail and monitoring design, and the reverse.
• Act as the client's single point of contact for delivery, responsible for stakeholder management, executive updates and engagement credibility.
• Manage the commercials: track fixed-fee milestone billing for each workstream, check deliverables against agreed scope before sign-off, and release invoices only once the client has accepted.
• Take part in the final architecture decisions for the multi-model gateway and hold it to the same examiner-ready evidence bar as the governance workstream.

What the employer is looking for

• Experience delivering enterprise AI and cloud programmes and owning solutions architecture on Azure, including APIM, identity and security.
• Delivery leadership in banking, financial services or insurance, with enough working knowledge of AI governance and bank regulation (SR 26-2, NYDFS) to credibly connect the two workstreams.
• Programme and commercial management skills, specifically milestone billing and scope control.
• Executive-level stakeholder management.
